2016 Xi'an Silk Road Business Summit and Cooperation & Development Conference of SRCIC kicks off on September 6

On 18 August, 2016 Xi’an Silk Road Business Summit and Cooperation & Development Conference of Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce(SRCIC) co-hosted by China Chamber of International Commerce(CCIC), SRCIC, Shaanxi Sub-council of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade(CCPIT), and Shaanxi Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce held a press conference in Beijing. Mr. Lin Shunjie, Director of the Department for Promotion of Trade and Investment in CCPIT, Mr. Li Jianhua, Deputy Chair of Shaanxi Sub-council of CCPIT, Mr. Zhai Junjie, Deputy Chairman of Shaanxi Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Li Zhonghang, Secretary General of SRCIC, and other leaders from the hosting organizations attended the press conference. Press from China, Korea, Russia, America, Hungary, Singapore among more than 80 nations also attended and reported the event. During the conference, Mr. Li Zhonghang said, the Summit will be held on the 6th and 7th of September at Tang West Market in Xi’an, also known as the starting point of the ancient Silk Road.

 

The Summit is titled “Joint Efforts in Building a Platform for Business Collaboration and the Belt and Road”. More than 300 attendees will take part in the Summit. They are chairs of national chambers of commerce, national funds, national leaders, and business leaders, ambassadors to China, and experts in financial sector and antique industry from more than 40 countries, including Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Pakistan, Palestine, Bengal, Thailand, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Philippines, Mongolia, and Lebanon. During the Summit, the participants will discuss on four topics, namely the joint construction of eSilkroad, the platform of cross-border financial services, the cooperative platform for major cities, project pool and fund pool in the Belt and Road Initiative or the 16+1 Cooperation. The Xi’an Declaration will be announced at the Summit. It focuses on practical cooperation at all levels in all sectors. The Summit strives for a platform of practical cooperation for Silk Road nations and major cities under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. It offers opportunities in project matching and cooperation, which leads to the ultimate achievement in win-win, multi-win, all-win outcome and a new mechanism of openness, justice and fairness for international business and trade.

 

The Summit includes events covering senior seminars, project matching, exhibition, and cultural exchange. Activities include opening ceremony, keynote speeches, four sub-forums, four dedicated meetings, three project matching activities, nine cultural exchange activities, exhibitions, and award presenting. A total of 22 activities are both high end and practical, forming a varied and tight agenda.

 

Among them, the Silk Road Business Leadership Summit (Xi’an) Committee is the most important meeting. The chairs of chambers from Silk Road nations, experts of domestic and foreign finance, and business leaders will engage in discussions and conversations on the topic of the joint construction of eSilkroad, the platform of cross-border financial services, and the cooperative platform for major cities. Their inputs and insights will be of great importance in the success of the three platforms.

 

The first topic is the joint construction of eSilkroad. This platform promotes and introduces national foreign policy, business environment and business information. It offers big data of international trade. Enterprises can use this platform in online settlement and payment across borders. It aims to form an online community of common interest in the Belt and Road Initiative.

 

The second topic is the joint construction of the platform of cross-border financial services. This platform offers quality cross-border financial services and support in the implementation of projects for Silk Road nations.

 

The third topic is the joint construction of the cooperative platform for major cities. The platform facilitates conversations, favorable policies, project matching, and practical cooperation among major cities in the Belt and Road region.

 

The SRCIC Conference for Cooperative Development focuses on the development plan of SRCIC for the next three years; establishing five committees on finance, business, culture, transportation, and energy to cater for practical cooperation among and sustainable development for its members; co-founding six organizations, namely eSilkRoad, Silk Road International Development Fund, Silk Road Think Tank Association, Silk Road Trade and Business Expo Park, Silk Road International Association of Museums, and Silk Road International Commodities Exchange for further cooperation and project matching among chambers of commerce from Silk Road nations.

 

The Conference will hold a round table meeting dedicated to the project pool and fund pool in the Belt and Road Initiative and the 16+1 Cooperation. In this meeting, attendees will engage in discussions on the founding of the project pool and fund pool in integrating resources of different nations. They will also talk about the opportunities in the 16+1 Cooperation and the Belt and Road Initiative. Activities will be hosted to promote major projects in Silk Road countries. Cooperation agreements will be signed on site. The Conference will help in the implementation of large-scale and major projects from Silk Road countries.

 

Three parallel activities will also be held during the Summit. The first one is the Inaugural Ceremony of Silk Road International Association of Museums. In this ceremony, heads of national museums from Silk Road countries will gather and sign the agreement in forging a partnership and a non-profit international organization -- Silk Road International Association of Museums, in efforts to promote the prosperity of cultural sector.

 

The second is the presenting ceremony for SRCIC Award of Excellence for Business Leaders. In this ceremony, we will review the achievements and progress in the business cooperation and economic development along the Silk Road. Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce will give the SRCIC Award of Excellence for Business Leaders, the Golden Camel, to the chairs of chambers and experts who have made excellent contribution and outstanding achievements. So, more chambers will be encouraged to join the construction of the Belt and Road.

 

The third is the Historical Cheers -- Exhibition of Chinese Tea Culture and Georgian Wine Culture. The activity is an exploration of cultural exchange between the East and West. It will introduce to the public the origin, history and potential of tea and wine, the two major commodities on the Silk Road. The activity includes sessions of promotion, tasting, performance and business negotiation. It aims to enhance the popularity of Chinese tea and Georgian wine globally, and inject new thrusts to the cultural exchange and business cooperation between Georgia and China.

 

The Summit strives for nine achievements: the announcement of Xi’an Declaration on joint construction of the Belt and Road; the establishment and improvement of operation mechanism of SRCIC and the five committees on trade, finance, transport, energy and culture; co-founding of eSilkroad, Silk Road International Development Fund, Silk Road Think Tank Association, Silk Road Trade and Business Expo Park, Silk Road International Association of Museums, and Silk Road International Commodities Exchange; agreement on joint construction of eSilkroad in order to provide big data of international trade and build a international commodities exchange; agreement on establishing Silk Road International Development Fund; agreement on establishing Silk Road Trade and Business Expo, a never closing expo featuring more than 60 national pavilions; establishment of Silk Road International Association of Museums; announcement of initiative to establish project pool and fund pool for the Belt and Road  initiative and to establish Silk Road Think Tank Association.

 

The Belt and Road Initiative have received high appraisal and popularity in Silk Road countries. International chambers of commerce and enterprises are already important players in the joint construction of the Belt and Road. As one of the co-host, SRCIC is co-founded by Da Tang Xi Shi Group and 36 national chambers under the support from World Chambers Federation and CCIC. It is a non-profit, non-political international organization based in Hong Kong. SRCIC is the first international association of chambers of commerce named after the Silk Road. It holds the Silk Road Spirit -- “peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit”-- announced by President Xi Jinping as its motto, and aims to serve as an influential platform for international trade and culture exchange along the Silk Road. SRCIC is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that promotes the construction of the New Silk Road. 40 national chambers have joined SRCIC. This number is expected to reach 60 by the end of this year. The membership also includes millions of enterprises. SRCIC is well received and enjoys high reputation among Silk Road nations, because it offers a platform of practical cooperation for the global business community that values joint discussion, joint construction, shared resources, win-win, multi-win and all-win.

 

According to Mr. Li Zhonghang, Secretary General of SRCIC, the Summit will be held on the 6th and 7th of September at Tang West Market in Xi’an, also known as the starting point of the ancient Silk Road. The host of the Summit will rotate among member states in order to expand and enhance the influence and publicity of the Summit and provide a platform of practical cooperation for the global business community that values joint discussion, joint construction, shared resources, win-win, multi-win and all-win for different nations and regions.
