Under the background of building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, namely, the Belt and Rod Initiative, the Philippine Silk Road International Chamber of Commerce (PSRICC) was founded in Manila on October 13, 2016 by the witness of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. It is the first overseas Silk Road chamber of Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC).

 

Under the leadership of its Founding Chairman, Amb. Francis Chua who is concurrently the Vice Chairman and Executive Board Member of SRCIC, the PSRICC was formed to coordinate with and carry out various activities between SRCIC and the Philippines, and to help facilitate investment and various projects within the region. PSRICC also acts as a bridge between investors and between China and the Philippines. In view of Chairman Chua’s great contribution to the Sino-Philippine economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges, SRCIC presented the Award of the Year 2016 and 2017 SRCIC Outstanding Leadership Award to him.

 

PSRICC with the concept of openness, inclusiveness and development and the vision of globalization will aim to create a new model and a new platform of international and external exchanges and economic and trade cooperation, adhering to the principle of consultation, jointly build and sharing.

 

Mission of PSRICC

PSRICC was established in respond to the Belt and Road strategic vision for promoting cross-border integration, mutual benefit and win-win collaboration. It aims to provide a platform for members to pool resources, information, capital and other resources, and to promote the Philippine Maritime Silk Road toward substantive economic development.

 

Recent activities

On April 25-27, 2019, the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) was successfully held in Beijing. Nearly 5,000 international guests from more than 150 countries and more than 90 international organizations were attracted to the Forum. Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony and chaired the leaders’ roundtable.

 

SRCIC Chairman Lu Jianzhong and SRCIC Vice Chairman and PSRICC Founding Chairman Francis Chua were invited to attend the opening ceremony of BRF and the Belt and Road CEO Conference. PSRICC is the only Philippine delegation invited by BRF.

On 26 April, PSRICC co-organized the Sino-Philippine business signing ceremony with Department of Trade and Industry Philippines. SRCIC Chairman Lu and PSRICC Chairman Chua signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Silk Road International Development Fund (the Philippines). Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte witnessed the 19 agreements’ signing with a total investment of US $12.1 billion between China and the Philippines.

Background Info

 

On 8 September 2018, during the 2017 Silk Road Business Summit (Xi’an), SRCIC and PSRCIC signed MOU on the Joint Invitation of the Philippine Media Groups to Visit China on a Regular Basis.

 

On 12 October 2018, at the invitation of SRCIC and PSRCIC, a delegation of journalists from Philippine news agencies arrived in Xi’an for a visit. Afterwards, the delegation went to Zhangjiajie city for in-depth report on the 2018 Silk Road Business Summit (Zhangjiajie).
