Congratulatory Message from H.E. Maryna Poroshenko, First Lady of Ukraine
9 Sep 2017

Dear Participants of the Silk Road Summit,

I am pleased to greet honorable representatives from all over the world. Today we are witnessing cultural dialogue between the east and the west within the One Belt One Road global project. I hope that Ukraine which is situated between China and Europe will become an important link from Asia to Europe. It's very symbolic that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kiev and Beijing. We will continue consolidating and enriching the history of our cooperation as we lay foundations for new projects that correspond to present day environment.

The One Belt One Road Initiative is well-known in Ukraine. Thanks to this project, we can become a special partner for China. My country boost a significant internal potential, enjoys a unique geographical location and has well-developed relations with the European Union. Incidentally, it's within this initiative that Poroshenko Charity Foundation and the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce have a grand programme for the inclusive education in Ukraine. Thanks to our cooperation, it has become possible for more than 350 Ukrainian school children to use more than computer facilities for their studies.

I must extend my gratitude to our Chinese partners for supporting 30 Ukrainians study in the city of Xi'an. I am convinced that in the future these young people will be able to play in an important role in strengthening Ukrainian-Chinese relations.

Let me therefore whole-heartedly wish this year's Summit to become a high-level event promoting constructive cooperation. The joint Initiative of One Belt and One Road is bringing Kiev and Beijing together.
